Cleveland Metroparks Map & Compass: Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt & Hot Cocoa
Directions: Meet at Garfield Park Program Center
Ages: All Ages (Minors between the ages of 0-17 MUST have a registered and participating adult)
Fee: Free (All guests MUST register)
Terrain/Distance: Up to 1 mile over mostly flat terrain with a few rolling hills on both paved and natural surface trails.
Learn basic map reading techniques including the language of maps, orienting a map, and staying found, inspiring confidence as you venture outside and enjoy all that nature has to offer. Put your new skills to the test as you navigate the nearby trails and high-grass prairie with your map and compass in order to find the pumpkins and fall-themed treats hidden along the way, and reward yourself with a cup of hot coca at the end!
This inclusive experience is open to individuals of all abilities. Thanks to a grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, an all-terrain Action Trackchair is available to the first-person requesting use of the chair. Thanks to a grant from the CCBDD, a GRIT Freedom Chair is also available. An Action Trackchair and GRIT Freedom Chair are both designed to allow guests with disabilities to have access to a variety of trail terrain. Contact Cleveland Metroparks Outdoor Recreation at 216-341-1704 (Monday – Friday) or email or@clevelandmetroparks.com to reserve the chair or discuss any disability related needs. The entire program will be spent outside; please dress appropriately for the weather. Please bring a completed Waiver and review the participant equipment list.
