Congratulations, Aalayah! Keep up the great job in your new job.

Congratulations, Aalayah! Keep up the great job in your new job.

Give a big cheer for Debbie, Support Administrator, as she retires at the end of August. She started in 1996 as a habilitation specialist in a then-new program called Home Based Services at the Parma adult training center.

That first position remains one of her favorite times in her career, as Debbie worked with people with significant medical needs, providing them with unique first-time opportunities and experiences. "I absolutely love working with individuals with disabilities and their families. I enjoy personally connecting and supporting them to achieve their goals," said Debbie.

Debbie also fondly remembers working with her first support administration manager, Karen. Her manager had a profound effect on her career. Karen set high expectations and consistently challenged Debbie to grow professionally, while also showing a genuine kindness and care for her as a person.

During her tenure, Debbie is most proud of supporting so many individuals and families during big milestones in their lives. To her, nothing is better than seeing someone happy in a new home, especially after difficult situations in which they may not have been comfortable.

Debbie shares that she is grateful for her years at Cuyahoga DD. "I have worked with some phenomenal people across departments who have inspired and supported me in my work over the past 30 years."

Fun fact: for the past 15 years, Debbie and her husband have owned and operated a farm in Madison that hosts a fall festival featuring a corn maze and a haunted house.

In retirement, her new life mantra is 'no hurry.' She plans to enjoy every day. In addition to their family business, Debbie wants to travel and hike at least one more high peak.

Thank you, Debbie, for your 30 years of service!
