Who We Help

Our organization supports individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities, which encompass a range of conditions resulting from limitations in physical, cognitive, language, or behavioral areas. These conditions typically emerge during a person’s developmental stage, can affect daily functioning, and often persist throughout their lifetime.

Cuyahoga DD employees are very talented. Meet Samantha in today's Employee Spotlight. She is a Project Coordinator for the Provider Development and Support department. Working on initiatives that improve the lives of the people served is so meaningful and important to her. Samantha shares about her job, "I love that my position allows me to interact with so many different people inside and outside the organization, it’s perfect for a social butterfly like me." She is full of fun facts! Some of them are that she is a classically trained soprano and performs around Northeast Ohio. She has three rescue dogs and volunteers with Mutts in a Rut. In partnership with College Now, the Cuyahoga DD scholarship is open for the Cleveland State University (CSU) Reciprocal Inclusive Student Experience (RISE) Program. Eligible students receive services from Cuyahoga DD and plan to enroll in the Cleveland State University RISE Program for the first time. RISE is a two to four-year transition certificate program that empowers students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to continue their post-secondary education. Providers support people with developmental disabilities so they can meet their needs, wants, and goals. They can help with daily tasks, group outings, employment training, social skills, and much more. The community has given shout-outs to the providers they work with. Today's Provider Shout Out is for Lighthouse Advocacy Agency LLC. The following shout-out was given by a Cuyahoga DD support administrator. "I would like to give a huge shout-out to Evelyn Rivera, from Lighthouse Advocacy Agency LLC for her unwavering dedication, compassion, and support. Evelyn has always been willing to step in and help at any time, no matter the situation. During an incredibly difficult period, when one of my individual’s mother was facing serious hospitalizations and eventually passed away, Evelyn went above and beyond. She not only provided consistent and meaningful support to my individual, but she also offered comfort, guidance, and compassion to the mother throughout her hospital journey. Her presence made a tremendous difference during such a challenging time. Evelyn’s kindness, reliability, and genuine care truly stand out. She leads with her heart and always puts others' well-being first.
