Who We Help

Our organization supports individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities, which encompass a range of conditions resulting from limitations in physical, cognitive, language, or behavioral areas. These conditions typically emerge during a person’s developmental stage, can affect daily functioning, and often persist throughout their lifetime.

The Cleveland Clinic Children's PEERS® Social Skills Groups: Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills is gauging interest for its two groups - Adolescents and Young Adults. Please invite the people you support to enter the waitlist at redcap.ccf.org/redcap/surveys. Adolescents Ages: 12 - 17 Code: NLCD4KNP9 Young Adults Ages: 18 - 25 Code: JMKHWPFN4 Attendees will learn about: • Developing and maintaining friendships • Conversational skills • Entering and exiting conversations • Appropriate use of humor • Electronic communication • Dating Skills • Organizing get-togethers • Handling direct and indirect bullying • Handling disagreements • Handling peer pressure PEERS is an evidence-based social skills intervention designed for individuals interested in forming and maintaining friendships and/or developing romantic relationships. Young adults are taught social skills through didactic lessons and role-play demonstrations, and practice these skills during group socialization activities. Social coaches (parents or caregivers) will also be taught how to assist their loved one in making and keeping friends and/or dating, which will take place within the 90-minute time frame.
