Handcycling is an excellent way for riders of all abilities to use their upper body strength to travel on Cleveland Metroparks amazing all-purpose trails. Adaptations and staff support are available for this program specifically designed for people with disabilities (including but not limited to physical, cognitive, sensory, visual and hearing impairments). Thanks to a grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, Freedom Concepts handcycles and specialized tricycles can be available. If you have specific questions or would like to discuss your abilities, so we bring the bike that works best for you, please call us prior to the program: 216-341-1704 (Monday-Friday).

One caregiver per person will be permitted to participate alongside the individual with a disability at no additional cost. Handcycles aren’t guaranteed for the additional person, but he/she is welcome to bring their own bike or walk alongside the registered participant. Both participants and the additional person will be required to complete a waiver as well as wear a helmet (that can be provided) while on a bike.
Dressing in non-cotton layers is encouraged. This program is outside; please dress appropriately for the weather. Trails could be wet. Please bring a completed waiver and review the equipment list. Classes will begin promptly, so plan to arrive early.
