Try-It: Adaptive Kayaking

Have you always wanted to try kayaking, but weren’t sure how? Adaptive kayaking is specifically designed for guests with disabilities to be able to try kayaking in the warmth of the pool under the guidance of a certified kayak instructor. Adaptive equipment, kayaks, paddles, and personal flotation devices are provided.

Directions: Program meets at Seven Hills Community Recreation Center Pool: 7777 Summit View Drive, Seven Hills, OH 44131.
Ages: 8 years & over with a participating adult.
Fee: $15 per person (All guests MUST register)
Terrain/Distance: Paddling in an indoor pool.
Experience kayaking during this short try-it session where you will learn paddle techniques and basic boat fitting. Adaptations and staff support are available for this course specifically designed for people with disabilities (including but not limited to physical, cognitive, sensory, visual and hearing impairments). The entire program will be spent in the pool. Please come dressed to be in the water. Non-cotton layers such as synthetic materials, fleece, wool, etc. are encouraged. Bring a towel and extra set of clothes. Locker rooms will be available for you to change after the program. Please bring a completed Waiver and review the equipment list. Classes will begin promptly, so plan to arrive early.
This program is limited to one participant working 1:1 with an instructor. The program shares pool space with another kayak program happening at the same time, but separately.
One caregiver per person will be permitted to attend the program alongside the individual with a disability at no additional cost. Participation of the caregiver in the water will be based on pool capacity.
